I think it's sweet that the least capitalistic member of the board supports a team that buys titles. MT-AJ makes hypocrisy hip.
In other news I hated this World Series. As a Braves' fan, I didn't want the Phillies winning again. As a baseball fan, I didn't want the Yankees to buy a title. I just had to grit my teeth and just be happy that one of them had to lose. For the record I was pulling more for the Phillies because they were an actual team.

I love how every time the Yankees lose in the postseason, everybody says, "See? Money can't buy titles!"... and then when they do win the World Series, everybody says, "Way to buy the title, Yankees!"
Yes, the Yankees have a TON of money, and have bought great players from it. But the Boston Red Sox aren't THAT far behind them in overall salaries, and have only one twice in the past 90 years (and they've been the second-most expensive team for as far back as I can remember). The Mets are the third most expensive, and haven't won since 1969. Hell, the Cubs are the 5th most expensive team, and they're too pathetic to even bring up.
I do not deny that the Yankees have bought talent. But it takes MORE than money to win the World Series. It takes chemistry within the team. It takes smart strategic managers and coaches. And it takes a certain amount of luck.
If it was just money, then the Yankees would have won more World Series in the past 9 years.

Brace yourself..... Matt, I agree with you on this. Every team has the right to buy whoever they want, and spend however much they want....some owners choose to spend a lot of money on players to try to win. Other teams, like the Pirates don't spend very much, and then, when their players begin to look promising, they trade them away so they don't have to pay them. It's just the way baseball is. Like Matt said, sure, the Yankees spend a lot, but so do the RedSox, Mets, Angels, Cubs, etc....there are a lot of teams that spend a lot. There are a lot of other teams that have the money to spend a lot, but don't. It's what baseball is. I'm a die hard RedSox fan....die hard....but I love baseball. I'm happy that Jeter got one more. Now that it's all over and done with, and the Yankees won............ FUCK OFF YANKEES....REDSOX will get them next year

The Yankees spend way more than anyone else, though the Red Sox are getting close. I only give Boston a delay in wrath because they are the lesser of two evils and their fans are much less obnoxious than Yankee fans.
The Yankees drive up prices of players to where only a few teams can afford them, overpay, then usually get burned only to redo the process. Nothing wrong with acquiring a FA to put you over the top, but Yankees try to get everyone regardless of need. Building a team and developing/producing players (aka the right way) actually does work. Look at the Rays and Phillies. Heck, my Braves are on the cusp of a breakout and at least 6 of their position players (likely 7) will be homegrown. Their best prospects will soon be playing and contributing. The Yankees refuse to produce good players since the turn of the century and as a purist, I dislike it.
Plus they're run by a complete buffoon who doesn't deserve to be rewarded by winning a title.

I just say the Braves should pay me to attend all their games. Seeing as whenever I am there they hav a 100% win rate.

If Cole Hamels and Brad Lidge were the same as they were last year then the Phillies would have won the series.
Cole blew game three and Lidge blew game four.

Also, as I was following the ROY candidates as I'm pulling for Tommy Hanson to win it, where was JA Happ? His numbers looked great this year (despite getting hurt). He should have been given a start in Philly.

I'm really not sure but it bothered me that Amaro didn't want to get rid of Happ and some other pieces in their minor league for Halladay but then they NEVER used Happ as a starter in the Post Season. Could you imagine if they did both deals for Lee and Halladay? OMFG it would have been LIGHTS OUT!
