I had the pleasure of seeing Hogan's last match in the WWE. I went to the event with every intent of booing him, which I figured most of the arena would because of the rumors he refused to put Orton over and even faked an injury threatening to walk away from the match if he didn't go over (Was on the dirtsheets before the PPV), so I had every intention to boo the shit out of him because Orton was my guy then on top of that.
Orton came out to a nice pop (even as a heel), so I definitely figured what was going to happen next was going to be the people booing Hogan. Well hell was I wrong. "Real American" hit, and 60,000 people stood up and blew the roof off. There was a handful of us that didn't want to listen to it and booed anyway. He came down, and the pyros went off, and a GIANT American flag dropped down across the stage and more pyros went off. Hogan posed and pointed to Orton in the ring and I could not boo anymore. I was 20 and knew how much of a politician and piece of crap he had become, but the 5 year old in me who watched him growing up couldn't do it. It was a really special moment and I am glad to say that I was there to live it.
That show is legendary in the career of both Triple H and Hulk Hogan because Hogan says to this day that Vince stiffed out of another contract after that show because he wanted more money than Triple H. Vince said that he couldn't do it, and Hogan said that HHH could never get a pop that big and everyone was there to see him (I can not argue the way everyone responded). Why is it legendary for HHH? The running joke is that Triple H busted his balls to out pop him later in the night and could not do it. He tried and tried and tried, and could not get the same exploding reaction from the entire crowd like what happened.
As for Hogan's last greatest match? I have to say it was a year before that show, Summerslam 05 with Shawn Michaels. That was a great match. HBK sold like a champ and Hogan took some bumps which was nice.

That Hogan/Rock promo still sends chills down my spine. I remember going nuts watching it.
I miss the Rock, too. In terms of pure entertainment, he was the best ever. No one is even close (maybe Jericho). Face, heel, it didn't matter. He always brought his A game on the mic. I even miss his overselling.

I don't really have much to add that hasn't been said... Yes, I acknowledge what he's done for the business, but I'm ready for him to retire. I mean, really retire. None of this Hogan Knows Best shit, none of these commercials (apparently he's wanting to be the next Billy Mays)- and ESPECIALLY no more work in the wrestling business.
He's holding people back. When he and Easy E took over TNA with the intention of "putting over" the younger guys... he brings in fucking Nasty Boys? That's when I knew that this wasn't going to work out. Never mind him trying to recreate nWo for the second time now (First "The Band," now "They" which have an nWo-vibe)... It's just shitty to see that he can't let go of the business.
I guess I wouldn't mind the occasional cameo appearance or something... but he needs to retire. I'm so freakin' sick of him.

if he is not happy being in the background then yes he should retire.
however, if he could genuinely just use his status and name power to get TNA more attention whilst allowing the right talent to do the talking in the ring then id be happy to see him stick around, and it in fact would be a good thing.
