Whilst i may be rushing in and may be proven wrong in time, i think the wwe missed the boat with a great great storyline.
a storyline that could have been a year long deal, to run alongside Cena/Rock.
I would have had Sin Cara and Rey on the same brand, the upcoming feud with Sin Cara/Chavo would still go ahead, thats good business and Chavo is a valuable player when he is not being made to look stupid.
I know that Sin Cara is no rookie, but the wwe rarely talks about 'outside' achievements, so it would be no suprise to class Sin Cara/Chavo as a rookie vs veteran feud.
Chavo, the vet would appear to come out on top when they matched up, maybe Sin Cara would score actual 'wins' but Chavo would always get his own back and use his knowledge, trickery and cunning to leave Cara frustrated.
Mysterio steps in, he starts standing by the side of Cara, helping to advise him on what Chavo will try and do to take him down.
We go through June and july and head into SummerSlam, Sin Cara Vs Chavo. Mysterio stays out back but his training is key in Cara picking up the big feud ending win.
Over the next couple of weeks Rey/Cara work tag team matches, getting a match for the belts at the September PPV and they lift the straps.
September - November they have great tag matches with other teams, the tag belts get elevated along with Sin Cara.
However Sin Cara starts getting a little cocky, but the fans like it, he still works to be a 'face' but with a confidence and Rey starts to get pissed off. The camera shows him shaking his head every time Cara is the one to get the winning pinfal in a match. There are times when it looks like Rey is going to turn, but he does and the bad feeling almost looks like it disappears, but then we come to the Royal Rumble.
Rey/Cara are still tag team champions going into the Rumble. Rey tries to convince Cara that it is too soon for him to be looking to main event WM and that Rey should win the Rumble, after all Rey may not have many years left etc etc.
The Rumble comes and there is a spot when Cara/Rey are the only two in the ring, Cara shows respect by backing off, not wanting to fight. Lets say a heel Mark Henry (he is always a threat you know!!!) is next in, Rey/Cara look like they are going to work together and take out Henry, but as they all bundle near the ropes, Rey ends up getting eliminated.
Cara goes on to put on a great performance in the match, but does not end up winning it.
Rey is getting more bitter and more twisted and on Smackdown Rey/Cara are booked to face Henry and someone else with the belts on the line, Rey leaves Cara hanging and the belts are lost.
Rey returns after the match and beats down on Cara. He explains to the fans that he has spent his life as a good person, entertaining and being a role model, he even wanted to help Cara but he was not willing to take his time. Rey says his time is running out and he can not spend it helping out an ungreatful Sin Cara, they are finished.
Elimination Chamber PPV before WM.
Both Rey and Cara are in the world title match, this time Rey gets the upper hand and eliminates Sin Cara, but Rey does not win the belt.
On the next addition of SD, Sin Cara comes out and he explains (or his translator explains!) that neither he or Rey have achieved what they set out to do, and that as long as Rey was bitter and twisted, Sin Cara would always have to be watching his back so he wants it finished, he wants Rey out of his way.
Rey comes out and say he wants Sin Cara's mask.
so a Career(Rey) Vs Mask(Cara) is set for WM.
They put on a show stealing match, and Sin Cara wins, the match is received so well that Rey gets a standing O even in defeat.
Sin Cara has been elevated and lets be honest, the fans have been given a year long treat which would probably out shine Rock/Cena.
and we all know Rey would not have to stay retired, and could probably come back as a face for another run if he wanted.
anyway, i just like putting down my booking ideas, sorry if i have bored you.
