So here's a fun story . . .
TNA is going to be in Amsterdam NY this weekend. Amsterdam NY is home to the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame . . . I've heard Vince McMahon is being inducted this year. (My dad, and another good friend of mine are both friends with the guy who runs the HoF) . . . anyways, TNA is going to be at the Amsterdam High School tonight . . .
Soooo, I get a phone call from my buddy two days ago and all he says is "Woooooooooooooooo" (much like Ric Flair would) . . . I laugh and say "what's up dude?"
So I've known he's had tickets to see TNA. What I did not know was that he bought an extra ticket for me. See, this kid and I grew up together. We've known each other since I was 6 and he was 8 . . . I'm 31 now and he's 33 . . . that's a long ass time . . .
He bought tickets and got me one . . . AND . . . he paid extra . . . so we get to go in an hour and a half early to hang out with everyone, all the wrestlers . . . we get to meet them, get pictures taken with them . . . bullshit with them etc . . . then, being that we're already inside, we get special seating . . .
To say the least, I'm fucking pumped . . . I get to see the guys and gals from TNA today/tonight . . . it's going to be so much fun . . . and, I didn't have to pay a single cent! BADASS!

I hate you. We live 20 minutes from this show. Our buddy went to High School there, and you're going. I am jealous. One more time, I hate you. (in the most loving, no homo, kind of way) ;D

Ok, so here¡¦s my TNA experience . . .
Let¡¦s start by saying WOW . . . I was expecting this show to kinda suck . . . and to be honest, it was amazing. I¡¦ve seen the WWE quite a few times live . . . this was my first time seeing TNA live . . . and in my own opinion, I think TNA puts on a much better show. Now, I¡¦m sure part of the reason I feel this way is because it was a smaller show. Instead of 10,000+ people, there were a few hundred. It also didn¡¦t hurt that I was front row for the TNA show, and I got to meet a lot of the guys.
Before the show, we¡¦re in the hallway. We¡¦re waiting for the ¡§meet and greet¡¨ . . . Don West comes out and is talking to all of us . . . he¡¦s literally 3 feet from me, my friends, and my buddy¡¦s kids. He is throwing out these offers for special deals (merch stuff) and pulls out the most rare wrestling action figure that there is today . . . It¡¦s the AJ Styles X Division Champion figure. There were only 3,000 made and you can¡¦t get them anywhere¡¦s anymore. Not online, not in the stores, nowhere. So he tells us there are only 100 left and if you buy one, you get to go backstage and meet AJ Styles and get this figure autographed. Now, I do not collect any of these things . . . but I know a lot of people do . . . and something like this, I was thinking I¡¦d like to get my hands on . . . when he told us they were only 20 bucks, I jumped on it. So I get one, my buddy gets one, and Don West gives the one he¡¦s showing off to my buddy¡¦s kid. So we¡¦re all set to go backstage to meet everyone.
Meet and Greet: Jeremy Borash comes out. He¡¦s actually really funny. Robbie E and Cookie come out . . . we boo them . . . (they¡¦re actually very nice, especially Cookie.) The Pope comes out . . . super funny, super nice guy. Offered some little kid standing next to us a picture . . . IF the kid would tell Jeremy Borash that he sucked . . . sure enough, Jeremy comes walking near us and the little kid yells ¡§JEREMY, YOU SUCK!¡¨ Jeremy replies with ¡§hey kid, you¡¦re not the first 5yr old to say that!¡¨ The Pope told the kid that he had guts and could someday be a TNA wrestler . . . fun moment. Kazarian comes out . . . he¡¦s also super friendly. Tommy Dreamer comes out. He was having fun with all of us as well. Jeremy Borash comes out and tells us that Jeff Jarrett is in the back and is refusing to allow anyone else come out for autographs . . . of course we boo him . . . (truth is, time was running pretty short.)
Show starts: Some announcer for TNA comes out and talks about the passing of Randy Savage. We all start massive ¡§thank you Randy¡¨ chants . . . this went on for about 5 minutes straight. Finally, in true style, everyone shut up and we did the ringing of the bell. I have it on video. I¡¦ll have to see if I can upload it. Very special moment. After the bell stopped ringing, we went right back into ¡§thank you Randy¡¨ chants.
First match: Robbie E vs. Kazarian ¡V First off, Robbie E was fist pumping, and actually got a lot of cheers from everone . . . then Robbie E challenged Kaz to a fist pumping challenge. Kaz accepts and starts the beginning of a fist pump . . . stops . . . and gives Robbie E the finger . . . it was hilarious. The match starts . . . it was actually a really good ¡§wrestling¡¨ match . . . Kazarian is one talented son of a bitch . . . watching him live is incredible . . . he is very good. In the end, Kaz climbs the ropes, points toward the ¡§heavens¡¨ and hits a huge Macho Man Elbow Drop! Of course, we all exploded with cheers. Great moment.
Second Match: Madison Rayne vs. Mickie James ¡V Wow, Wow, Wow . . . these two are sexy as fuck to watch wrestle . . . Madison isn¡¦t too bad . . . but Mickie is awesome and really carried the match . . . before the match started, Earl Hebner was announced as the referee: We all start ¡§YOU SCREWED BRET¡¨ chants . . . I was screaming loud . . . he comes outside the ring and is screaming at me, pointing at me . . . then rips off his referee shirt to reveal his own t-shirt that reads ¡§DAMN RIGHT I DID¡¨ . . . at that point, we couldn¡¦t help put cheer the old bastard . . . great moment! So back to the match . . . it was actually really good, and where it lacked in talent, it picked up in entertainment . . . Madison falls into Earl, he grabs her and kisses her right on the lips . . . shes distracted and Mickie picks up the win . . . after the match, Mickie grabs Earl and gives him a huge kiss . . . after she lets go of him, Earl falls on the ground. Mickie is so hot. Multiple times, we could see right up her jean shorts leg . . . wow is all I can say
Third Match: The Pope vs. Matt Morgan ¡V You have no idea how big Matt Morgan actually is . . . damn! This match was pretty good as well . . . The Pope is also amazing in the ring . . . Matt Morgan is pretty good for a ¡§big guy¡¨ and The Pope really helped this match be something special . . . In the end, Matt Morgan hits the big boot and picks up the win. The Pope had an awesome moment with a kid ringside. The Pope twice was going to give this kid his glasses, but at the last second pulled them away . . . I thought the kid was going to cry . . . Jeremy Borash ran over, grabbed the glasses and gave them to the kid . . . everyone cheered.
20 minute break: We go out and get autographs from Matt Morgan, Mickie James and Madison Rayne. Got my picture taken with Madison. She told me I smelled good. I replied with ¡§you¡¦re damn right I do!¡¨ We go backstage and meet AJ and get his autograph . . . he¡¦s super nice. He was wearing a NC hat . . . my buddy was wearing a NC hat . . . they had a moment together . . . ¡§bromance¡¨ . . . funny moment.
After the break, Tommy Dreamer vs. AJ Styles ¡V Awesome match. On TV, Tommy doesn¡¦t look that good in the ring . . . in person, he¡¦s actually very good. He had an awesome time ripping apart the crowd. We were all chanting ECW . . . Tommy cuts us off and tells us we aren¡¦t deserving to chant those letters. He then talks about how everyone thinks he sold out, but he didn¡¦t sell out . . . he just stopped caring about the fans who didn¡¦t give a shit about him or what he did for professional wrestling. Tommy challenges someone from the crowd . . . he walks over to me and my buddy and says ¡§so you think you¡¦re tough enough to fight Tommy Dreamer?¡¨ We scream ¡§fuck yeah¡¨ . . . he gives a cocky laugh and says ¡§yeah right, no one in this building is tough enough to face me!¡¨ AJ comes out and tells Tommy that he¡¦s tough enough and is going to beat him in front of all these fans, IN AMSTERDAM NY! (way to go AJ) . . . Tommy tells AJ that he¡¦s going to go ECW on his butt . . . (never happened) . . . this match was good . . . pretty short, but pretty good. AJ picked up the win, but like I said, it was a solid match.
Fifth match ¡V Jeff Jarrett vs. Samoa Joe . . . immediately, we begin ¡§Joes Gonna Kill You¡¨ chants . . . Jeff Jarrett goes over to Jeremy Borash and whispers something to him. Jeremy Borash announces that Jeff Jarrett wants everyone to know that ¡§Joe will not kill him because killing is illegal in the state of NY¡¨ . . . again, after this is said, we can¡¦t help but cheer him . . . the match was awesome . . . Joe is amazing . . . Jeff Jarrett looked like a God, thanks to Joe . . . Joe picks up a submission win, which everyone loved . . . great match.
Main Event ¡V Mr. Andersson vs. RVD ¡V Kennedy tells everyone that Mick Foley keeps trying to screw him, but it won¡¦t happen tonight because Mick Foley doesn¡¦t know how to read a NY Map and got lost . . . RVD comes out, the match was amazing . . . very good match . . . in the end, RVD picks up the win . . . and then Foley comes out and attacks Andersson . . . and pulls out Mr. Socko . . . great moment for everyone. After the match, they announce that if you pay 20 bucks, your entire group, it doesn¡¦t matter if there¡¦s two of you or 102 of you, you can get your picture taken, inside the ring, with RVD and Mick Foley . . . so of course I pay for everyone to get their picture taken . . . RVD was super nice . . . Foley wasn¡¦t as nice . . . but, I think it¡¦s because there were a lot of people lined up for pictures . . . still, RVD was much nicer than Foley ƒº
All in all, an awesome time . . . I really enjoyed it . . . they said they are planning on coming back again because they sold out and because it¡¦s about time Amsterdam, home of the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame had live wrestling in it again (it¡¦s been since early 90¡¦s) . . . and then, one of the coolest things happened . . . an assload of wrestlers who are in the professional wrestling hall of fame came out to meet everyone . . . AMAZING FUCKING MOMENT IN MY LIFE!
The entire experience = A+

"We go backstage and meet AJ and get his autograph."
Dude, if I knew you wanted my autograph so bad, I'd have given it to you years ago.

I feel like their house shows would be better than their regular shows... no awful storylines, just awesome wrestling... plus fun fan interaction in an intimate setting. Glad you had fun!

i was so pissed off a couple of years ago when i came to the US.
I was in Orlando, all set to see TNA and then i find out they stopped filming for the christmas season.
then i flew to New York, getting there on a tuesday, and WWE had been live on monday from Madison Square fucking Garden!
in the US for the first and possibly only time in my life and i miss both! and it was MSG!
Anyway, pleased for you Timbo, sounds like a great experience.
RVD was probably high.

There wasn't a face on Socko this time either WWE must have bought and own the rights to the real Socko.... I'm sad by this!
