4 days ago, Randy Savage died.
On this day, 23rd May, 12 years ago, the great Owen Hart died.
Owen was another great, one who never had the time to reach his true potential, but the career he had was hall of fame standard.
both great, both missed.

Sadly, Owen will never be in the Hall of Fame- or at least, he won't any time soon. His widow is still far too bitter with Vince, and wants absolutely nothing to do with WWE (and while I don't agree with her, I still can't blame her for her animosity). Now I don't know what how his children feel about it- maybe when their mother eventually passes (not that I or any of us wish that), their children will allow it to happen. I'm sure Bret and the rest of the Hart family would want it- but it ultimately is his widow's decision, and eventually, his children's.
Owen's always been one of my big "What If" things... It's hard to bring myself back to 1999- I was very young and naive at the time... I don't know if he would have ever been elevated to a main event status. Not that he didn't deserve it, but a lot of deserving guys in that time never got a decent shot- Jeff Jerrett and Ken Shamrock being the most obvious.

I was slightly suprised that Vince didnt push Owen when Bret left. Everyone else thoguht that Owen would most likely be pushed way down the card, to spite Bret, but i thought differently, i thought/hoped Vince would want to make Bret eat his words by pushing Owen to the moon, making it much harder for Bret to moan and moan.
Anyway, it never got the chance to happen, but Owen sure made the most of it every time he was performing, and from what i read, every single day of his life, backstage and on the road. A man who truely loved life, what a tradegy.

Had Owen survived and stuck around until the roster split, he might have had a run at the top. I like to think he would have.

Being that I'm old I can say that I remember Owen Hart inside the ring very well. The guy was definitely talented. He wasn't AMAZING in the ring, but he was definitely a lot better than most . . . his feud with Stone Cold was awesome . . . teaming with Jeff Jarrett was gold! His feud with HBK was awesome . . . and ultimately, his feud with Bret was incredible (the word incredible might not be enough credit for the feud) . . . Owne played a really good "jealous, selfish younger brother" . . . he had the ability to make you want to hate him . . . he was a great talent. I should add, if you look on Yahoo news, there is an article about Randy Savage passing away . . . it also talks about everyone who wrestled at WM XII (I think that's the one) . . . almost everyone who wrestled at that PPV has passed away . . . it has an entire list . . . pretty creepy. Look it up.

the list is a horrible read, but an interesting read at the same time.
