At least I know my buddy MTMT is reading this.
WWE is doing an amazing job with the CM Punk/cena angle. And I am surprised to say...WWE has worked a great angle and did the right thing by letting Punk win the title. He deserves it! Even if him leaving isn't a work, they showed him respect as a performer...AND, pulled a HBK/Hart angle for the new crowd. Vince has done wonders and now, HHH is the new head honcho because of the angle.
I never thought I'd say it about an angle with SuperCena...but wow, was that well played.

I've been dying to talk about this, but since this place was dead, I figured it'd be a waste... gotta love ya, Whitey!
Punk's promos over the past month were phenomenal... before his Cena feud, I always felt like he was incredibly underrated, but his work has exceeded my wildest expectations. He got the wrestling world buzzing again. He's not the first (nor will he be the last) to do a work shoot, but his was certainly the best I can think of. Sorry, Paul E. and Joey Styles- yours were great, Punk's was outstanding.
The match itself was OUTSTANDING. It was better than Triple H/Undertaker and Orton/Christian. And I have to give credit where credit is due- Cena did a hell of a job. It wasn't the typical SuperCena booking, where Cena gets his ass kicked till the very end... it was back-and-forth, it was entertaining, and especially with the storyline in the back of our minds (gotta love Chicago!), it told an amazing story.
Before the match, I though that there were three possible outcomes- either Vince would rehash the Montreal Screwjob, possibly turning Cena heel... ADR would cash in the MitB (I assumed this was the most likely)... or Cena would win clean. They started to hint at all three, which was brilliant. I would have been furious if this had been a screwjob ending- it's been done way too often. But to tease a screwjob and MitB cash-in before a twist of actually having Punk win and get away- BRILLIANT. The scenario of Punk winning had crossed my mind, but I never thought they'd actually go through with it.
Obviously we haven't seen the last of Punk. I'm sure he'll be back, probably by Wrestlemania at the latest. Maybe we'll see a "unifying" match between whoever is the "Interim" Champion and Punk (The only problem- SMACKDOWN SPOILER!!! Daniel Bryan said that he won't cash his briefcase in until Wrestlemania, forgoing the whole "cash in while the champ is down" motif and actually fight for the title. Which means if we see Bryan vs. World Champion and CM Punk vs. WWE Champion at Wrestlemania- where does the Royal Rumble winner play into this? I guess triple threat?). Regardless... this is the most creative storyline in a long time.
Not sure what to make of the whole Vince firing/Triple H taking power thing... I guess we'll see how it plays out. Still pretty exciting.
Other MitB notes-
-STOKED to see Daniel Bryan win the briefcase. I love the MitB concept for this very reason... it's a great excuse to push deserving stars. That's how Edge, RVD, Punk, and Miz all got to the top. I wouldn't be surprised if Bryan lost in his eventual title match... but hopefully this will elevate him to win the title eventually. But out of everybody in the match, Bryan is the best worker. I'd love to see Rhodes get to the next level, but... Bryan fucking rules.
-ADR winning the MitB was pretty obvious. WWE is clearly very high on him. He'll cash it in pretty soon, I'd imagine.
-This was probably the worst match of the Christian/Orton feud, but Christian's dirty win put a new spark into the feud... glad to see the title back on Christian.
-My ONLY complaint with Cena/Punk is that Cena didn't lose 100% clean. And honestly, I struggle to call that a complaint, since it was part of a bigger, grander story. But I honestly cannot remember the last time that Cena lost a match clean via pinfall. He loses table matches "clean" because they can make it look like a fluke... but any loss he's ever had has been due to some sort of outside interference or cheating.

Well, what if Punk really isn't coming back? What if WWE gave him the belt and let him leave, as a sign of respect for the work he's done in the last few months, and the change of opinion from the internet crowd? Thats never really been done before, has it? They can reissue another title...or maybe they'll just keep it as one, using Punk as a way to unify the titles in a way?
It could work with Cena taking a dirty loss, since if WWE is making a sacrifice as to giving CM Punk a huge nod and letting him leave with a title, they need their 'second best' (very loosely used term) to not look like he would have lost in a legit match.
All and all...maybe this is the start of bigger and better things for the WWE?

well,
MITB certainly was a grade A PPV. Even Show/Henry was acceptable, there is room for a slow big man match in a solid PPV, i have no issue with that and Henry is more interesting now as a character than he has even been, in my opinion.
CM Punk truely is outstanding, i honestly feel that if they continue to push him upon his return we could see him reach SCSA levels in merchandise and ppv sales, but of course SCSA had a number of hugely over main eventers to work with. WWE is struggling with star power, even those we rate highly such as Bryan, Christian etc are not huge draws because they have not been booked as such. There has been talk of HHH becoming Punks future feud, im not sure about that. Id love to see HHH remain in the suit and out of the ring for the foreseeable.
Getting back to CM Punk/Cena, it was excellent, story telling at its best. Cena played a great role, he sold really well and played of Punk really well. If only this was the Cena we always got to see, instead of the guy who gets beaten up for 20 minutes and then forgets all about it!
I have watched the match at least 6 times now and it gets better with repeat viewing.
I have to mention the crowd, they were sweet.
I also have to mention the announce team, they were SHIT. The fans were chanting 'CENA SUCKS...LETS GO CENA' for a long time, and what does Lawler say "i do not think there is 1 Cena fan in the arena!' Eventually they mentioned Cena getting some cheers. That was just a small example of their fucking shitness. They are ruining matches.
Cena lost clean, he wa outside the ring, got back in and lost clean. Sure Vince was standing there but come on, there really can not be an issue with that.
moving on...
I think they should have made more of a big issue about Punk having 'the belt' and i think they should have left the Raw brand without a wwe title for a short time. and it is Miz Vs Rey for the crowning of a new champion? I respect Rey but i have no desire to see his shit babyface gimmick carrying the top spot. Miz, fine...more so if he eventually turns face to give it a fresh feel. But really it would have been great to see a truely fresh face take the top spot. WWE would be onto something huge if they did in fact follow Punk with the title as he showed up in ROH (they would love the free advertising) and maybe even in Japan. It would do WWE no harm what so ever, but it would certainly keep and raise the profile of the WWE Title.
Eventually Punk returns, he is not officially the champion as he 'stopped' being a wwe employee, but still, whoever is officially the champion will of course want to prove his worth by facing Punk.
anyway, thats all for now.
over and out...Luke
