Yeah, seems to be most weeks that Cena gets the ratings and those guys we all rate bomb in the ratings, hence why the wwe title match was on early and Cena once again closed the show.
Heres the problem, fans have been conditioned to assume that something of interest is more likely to happen when Cenas on the show, because he gets all the main event storylines etc so it makes sense.
And now the wwe is scared to take a ratings hit whilst they push others, one drop and they send in Cena.
What's weird is it shows how much the audience truely is made up of young fans who love Cena and have little interest in good wrestlers
It's a shame

We were all youngsters who grew up with Hogan pushed like mad, but still grew to like good wrestling.

Here's my opinion . . . and please remember it's just an opinion . . . I think there are WAY more "young" people watching BECAUSE of what Vince did. Lets face it, the WWE had ratings . . . we watched it during the attitude era . . . we saw the sex, the violence, the beer drinking . . . and then . . . Vince changed the rating and made it PG. Cena became the new Hogan. Swearing was no longer allowed. Vince went out and tried to turn it back into 80's wrestling. He hired a bunch of the 80's and early 90's wrestlers kids . . . when I was a kid, we had Hogan, Macho Man, Ricky The Dragon, Jake the Snake, Andre the Giant, Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, Rowdy Piper, Jimmy Snuka etc . . . later on, guys like The Undertaker, Bret Hart(singles run), Diesel, Razor Ramone . . . hell, these guys became the "edgy" superstars. Once the attitude era started, it boosted wrestling to a whole new level, but it was already headed in that direction from what it "was" in the 80's and early 90's. I really believe Vince is trying to do the same thing now. He's made it PG. He's based it on "childrens TV" . . . kids love John Cena. They love Randy Orton. They love CM Punk. They love Ryder. Thats why these guys are getting pushed. It makes me wonder if over the next few years (5-10) we'll see things change up again. Will we see more swearing (already happening somewhat) . . . will we see more "edgy" types of wrestling? More hardcore material? I have a feeling Vince won't let the WWE stay JUST on the shoulders of Cena . . . let's be honest, one injury and Cena is out . . . then the WWE needs to ride on someone elses shoulders. If Vince JUST relies on Cena, he will eventually ruin himself and the WWE. At some point, he's going to have to start to rely on someone else. We saw it when Hogan left. We saw it when Austin needed to go. We saw it when The Rock left. We saw it when HHH went down with an injury. We have seen it a lot. The fact is, as big of a superstar as The Rock, Austin, HBK, Bret Hart etc has been, there hasn't been another HULK HOGAN until JOHN CENA came around. We bitch about Cena the way my father used to bitch about Hogan. Thats why my dad LOVED Ric Flair and Macho Man . . . because they weren't Hogan . . . it's the same reason why we would rather see Randy Orton or CM Punk . . . the fact is, much like life, wrestling goes in circles . . . I'll be happy when the WWE isn't revolving itself around Cena (even though I haven't minded him AS MUCH as I used to) . . . (go ahead Bill, kill me now)

Actually Vince realized when Hogan's time was up and let him go to WCW while grooming a replacement in the Ultimate Warrior. Vince is no idiot.

You said Vince wasn't an idiot in the same sentence as mentioning that he was grooming the Warrior? A worker who was more limited than Cena and did not have an ounce of loyalty about him?
Come on AJ, you can do better than that.
Vince isn't an idiot, but he is stupid sometimes.

What gets me about Cena is that I pretty sure he is a nice person, not a bastard in real life.
But, he either has no clue about the business or he actually is only out for himself.
The reason for this is Cena is the WWe, aside from HHH he must hold the most 'stroke' backstage.
So if creative said to him, '...you need to make Miz look really good by making him tap out to your shit submission hold gone and time again, but beating on him and R Truth with absolute ease and by laughing even when he gets the upper hand...'
Why didn't Cena say HELL NO! I should be looking concerned, I should be looking worried and I should be looking serious. Oh and when I put Miz in that shit hold I'll actually make it look painful and also, let him hang on for a while, let him battle it before submitting. Because that way this kid will come out of it looking strong even in defeat and I'll still look good also!!!
That's what gets me, Cena must be able to have a say in creative and I'd he does have that power and he is still looking like he does and burying people like he does then as I said either he is fucking stupid or not as nice a guy a we are lead to believe.
At least HHH, Nash etc admit to being arseholes

Very interesting point on Cena.
As for Vince, he was grooming Warrior to take over, but it didn't happen. Then he went to Hart, HBK, etc. It's not like he said, "Hulkamania's ending. This company's over," and gave up.
