I was just thinking, CM Punk is the World Champ right!
But it makes me laugh to think whether or not he actually has any 'stroke' backstage.
The days of Hogan, Flair etc holding the belt and ruling the roost are kind done, but we all know HHH, HBK, Orton, Cena etc can and do demand a position of power backstage.
Do you think Punk can walk around with the same kinda power? Can he shoot down ideas without a comeback. We know HHH could say 'no way, i aint doing that' to a story he was not happy with and we know he would not start being jobbed out.
What about Punk?
I know tenure has a lot to do with it, Punk is still seen as a new guy, specially to the title scene and main events.
Just wondered if in 5 years, if Punk is still topping the ranks, will he have turned into a self-promoter?

I don't think championship status really does much... it's more about the veteran status and politics.
Orton and Cena are probably the youngest guys with any backstage pull... but they're both company men. Orton had Triple H as a mentor, so he was able to get that pull he needed. Cena was just insanely popular (for whatever reason), and managed to have a successful push- and with that push came power.
I'm sure Punk might have a bit of control in his character, but maybe not the booking. I don't know. And honestly... who cares?

i'm sure punk has some sort of pull backstage. Vince isn't stupid, although he has a hard time proving that to use once in a while. Everyone loves CM Punk. The old school RoH guys like him, despite his new mainstream position. The old school WWE fans like him because he's a good performer. The kids like him because he's athletic, and the casual fans like him because he always puts on a great match.
However...I doubt he has the same pull as HBK or HHH...or even Orton and Cena. He's only getting the title because of his ability, which amounts to squat nowadays. Vince knows that if he starts jobbing Punk, he'll lose viewers. And thats bad, with TNA always trying (but usually failing) to be a threat to his TV ratings.
