*The crowd goes wild as Pearl Jam's "Even Flow" hits. Soon enough "The Role Model" emerges from the curtain to greet his thousands of fans in the arena. Clad in a "Role Model" T-shirt and a pair of khakis, he walks down the aisle while slapping hands with a few lucky fans.*
MTMT: "Last night Anthony Jordan joined MJ Windsor as the only current Grand Slam Champions in AWA, but, sadly, his reign didn't last much longer than Windsor's."
Ventura: "You got that right, Matt. Using the shrewd cunning that made him a billionaire, Timothy Draven took advantage of the rules surrounding the Hardcore and brought it back to the New Connection!"
MTMT: "A very opportunistic move by the New Connection, but could it be costly? This only further drives more of the locker room to Anthony Jordan's side, and, if I'm in the New Connection, I don't want to face a unified front."
*Jordan ascends the stairs and enters the ring. Miss Taylor hands over her microphone and leaves the ring as Jordan plays to the fans for a few seconds while waiting for "Even Flow" to cut off.*
MTMT: "And, in my opinion, things only get harder for Jordan as he faces Chris Holtz at Anarchy. There is some unfinished business between those two."
*As his music finally dies down, Jordan raises his microphone and looks around at the crowd.*
Jordan: "What did we learn from Anarchy? First, we learned that I can win any title any time I want."
*The fans erupt in cheers as Jordan gives his goofy grin.*
Jordan: "We also learned that the New Connection is undefeated when they have the advantage and sneak attack you."
*The fans quickly change pace and boo as Jordan nods.*
Jordan: "We also learned that, despite his best efforts, that MJ Windsor has to share a distinction with me as the only Grand Slam Champions in this newest incarnation of the AWA."
*The fans cheer again.*
Ventura: "That's the biggest tragedy."
Jordan: "Finally, we learned that I drew Chris Holtz in the first round of the Ruler of the Ring tournament, and that made my day."
*Jordan pauses as the fans look around confused.*
Jordan: "That made the attack by Cash and Draven more bearable. This is the match I really wanted. This is my main event for the year. This means more than any title. You see, two years ago, October 2007, I won a battle royal and fought Chris Holtz for the CWA Undisputed World Title. Holtz was an enigma that took the wrestling industry by storm while I was the most decorated member of the old guard. It was the ultimate showdown of indy versus mainstream...and indy won."
*Jordan lowers his microphone and looks a bit withdrawn in admitting that.*
Ventura: "I know that kills him to say, and I know that the New Connection will do everything to make sure history repeats itself."
*Jordan raises his microphone back up.*
Jordan: "Holtz beat me, and he did it fair and square. No feet on the ropes, no hitting the referee, no sand to the eyes, no illegal holds, no closed fists, and I think he never even got close to the five count when I was near the ropes. It was a hard fought match, and I eagerly waited for a rematch, but one never came. Holtz left the company as champion, and that was a bitter pill for me to swallow. Sure I moved on and won more titles and epic matches, but Chris Holtz is the one man I cannot definitively say I am better than because I never once proved it in the ring."
*Jordan turns around as he continues his speech.*
Jordan: "Sheldon Reese handed me my first lost, and when I came out of retirement, I set my sights on him. Eighteen months later, I pinned him and earned the right to claim to be the better man. In October 2006 in Sydney, Australia, Croc beat me in our first one-on-one match with some help. We never got a chance to wrestle again until nineteen months later, and I beat him. Now Croc does own a two and one record against me, but every match was close. The truth of the matter is that I know when I step into the ring with him, I can beat him because I have done it before and without Draven's help maybe the advantage is on my side."
*Jordan pauses and turns to the ramp.*
Jordan: "I cannot say that about Chris Holtz because I never pinned him. I never made him tap out. We wrestled once, he won and was gone. I am not going to go on some rant about Holtz leaving out of fear because, quite frankly, I do not think that was why. Personally I could not care less as to why he left. All I know is that he is back, and I finally have chance to avenge myself. Twenty-four months thinking that Holtz would be the one asterisk in my career, and now I have a chance to put all of that to bed."
*The crowd now cheers as Jordan pauses as they realize how big this match is.*
Jordan: "And I know a lot of pundits will look at this match in round one and say 'look how the mighty have fallen,' but I think of it as a case of 'leading with strength.' Holtz and I get each other at our strongest. No tournament has mentally or physically fatigued us. I do not need to win the Ruler of the Ring tournament to claim a victory because I do not need a title. I am Anthony Jordan, and I can get a title shot and win a title whenever I want. Victory is not about getting a belt. It is about one match."
*Jordan holds up his index finger as the crowd goes wild.*
MTMT: "Look at the fire from the former Undisputed World Champion. This is what real confidence is. He doesn't need the status of the title; he just needs to know he can beat anyone on the roster. If there comes a time when he can't do that, he makes damn sure to correct that."
Ventura: "So what? He gears up for an overrated 'star' in Chris Holtz, then crashes in the next round. This is what the New Connection won't do. They don't build up any opponents or matches. They never get let down or upset. They're always ready to dominate!"
*"The Role Model" turns to the ramp.*
Jordan: "You can be the 'Corinthian' or 'The Dark Horse,' I really do not care. All I want you to be is there at Anarchy and ready for the rematch that is long overdue. I will leave Anarchy without a doubt in my mind that I can beat all of my peers. You cannot stop me from achieving this...No, better put 'I will not allow you to stop me from achieving this.' Be at your best, Chris, and be ready to suffer your first loss to me."
*Jordan lowers the microphone as the fans go wild. He goes to leave the ring. Does he?*
