MS and FB networking

I thought I'd go ahead and open this up and see if Luke posts his thoughts and feelings. he mentioned them in another thread and I'm curious....

I actually have two myspace accounts. One for me and one for the 'kliq' of my friends called Push The Madness Productions. It's something I'm thinking of turning into a small company and build from the ground up.

Anyways, I love FB and MS because I have a lot of people I went to school with added. Most of these people I don't really keep in touch with but, it's always really nice to drop a line to see how they are.....or to comment on their life status and let them know I care.

Our pTm myspace, I'll add anyone and everyone that will click confirm. Just for the sake of networking and trying to get the name out there to start.


Now, the people that will add anyone and everyone no matter what..... they annoy the fuck out of me. The 13yr old who will add pedocunts like Luke and Timmy just to boost their friend number..... When you have to add random people to make your number look bigger so you feel better, that means you are fucking pathetic. When you have to make your default pic very slutty, showing cleavage and this and that, just so you can have 100s of friend requests a day, then you are sad and pathetic. People don't actually care about you, just your tits.

As for celebs, I don't care to add tons of them...I don't care to comment them....but, I'll add some of my faves like 'Shinedown' and 'The Offspring' and 'Gabriel Iglasias' so I can keep tabs on their project, concerts/shows, upcoming appearances. It's not to boost my numbers. It's so I know what's going on so I can partake in their things if I'm capable.


But, I think Luke might feel a bit the same way. The definition of 'Friend' is changing on a daily basis and becomeing a loose, bastardized term due to FB and MS. Not to me though.....cause while I have lots of people I went to school with on there, and lots of them my friends.... There are a few I would only call an acquaintance that I like to peek in on sometimes....I love to see how everyone is but... I don't totally call them a friend that I'll go get a beer with.


Those are pretty much my thoughts on it. Like I said, Luke mentioned a small bit of his thoughts in an earlier thread and, it made me think.....

i said all i had to say really, but it is an interesting subject.

someone i know works for FB here in the UK and im told there are actually concerns about the issue regarding the term 'friend'. there is consideration to change it to 'connection'.

and no, im not bull shitting because of 'The Connection' here in the AWA.

FB users may soon have 'connections' in place of friends, you would then be free to create your own group and call it 'friends' if you wanted.

that makes me laugh, it works in one sense, but then the next thing will be people crying, bitching and moaning about being a 'connection' and not being on someones self made friends list.

I don't think it pushes us further a part. I'm reconnecting with people I haven't seen in years. People write pithy updates, so you still feel like you're in their lives to some extent. Having lost contact with so many over the years, it is something that bothers me as I simply lack Bill's awesome ability to be super popular.

If FB makes a "connection" denotation, I get a cut of the profits. I actually coined the term 4 years ago after BWA shut down and CWA formed. The "AJ and MJ Connection" was the original team name until Luke dusted it off last year and cut off the first bit.

Off topic: Bill, Shinedown's coming down here for Scroogin' the Coast. Think I should go?

I am the keeper of The Connection...you got kicked out and it has lived on. Get over it.

And on the surface i know FB is great and i use it, im not suggesting otherwise.

But for example, someone who is housebound, unable to get out. This might seem like a great idea, hook them up with broadband and they can be in contact with the outside world, nice and easy.
Well maybe, the people that used to go around and visit and actually see the person and interact, now realise they can save time and chat via the net.
Real human contact starts to be erased.

Im kinda looking way into the future and i dont want to see people staying in, looking after a virtual dog, feeding virtual fish and working in a virtual garden.

But hey, im sitting here talking to a bunch of people i have never met and im playing fantasy/virtual wrestling with them!

But maybe technology can eventually go too far and turn humans themselves into the robots.

Your theory is true if we are not acting like ourselves. If you change your persona online, then it does kill real human contact. However, I say it's keeping us connected like friends who live near one another. We share tragedy, life events, feelings, opinions, etc. The big differences are that we don't have to respond immediately and we can't hang out and do things like catching movies together, hitting local events, etc.

And yes A, you should totally go. I still cry when I think of how I abruptly gave up on finding anyone to go to the Shinedown concert with. They are currently my fave band and will always be in my top 5. Plus I hear they put on a GREAT show.

I went to the Rev Theory, 12 Stones, and Shinedown show last year at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Rev Theory sucks a fat dick... 12 Stone was amazing, so much hype. BUT... Shinedown was on a whole different level. His voice is so amazing, even better live and the atmosphere was insane. Definitely check them out live if you get a chance.

The lineup right now is Papa Roach, Shinedown, and Halestorm (plus a local band or two, I think). Really like PR, so that's pushing me to attend. Like what I've heard of Shinedown plus friends give their albums rave reviews.
