The latest word I've been hearing is that Hogan wants to make the move permanent, doing a live Impact every Monday from 8-10 EST- meaning they'd only be going up against RAW for it's last hour. And he wants to make the move ASAP.
My thoughts- BIG mistake.
First of all, I wouldn't go with a live show. It's too expensive, and considering how much money a lot of these new acquisitions must cost (specifically Hardy, Flair, and Hogan himself), they don't NEED to go live. Sure, people can get spoilers on the Internet- but that doesn't hurt. In fact, if people read spoilers online and find it's a damn good show, then they'll be more inclined to stay.
Baby steps are the key. Maybe a live Impact after every PPV only (since PPVs are on Sundays, it'd make sense).
Honestly- a lot of people only watched Impact this week out of curiosity. Myself included. And I wasn't impressed- and this was when they were trying really, really hard. And I know a lot of others who weren't impressed either. Once it starts to become more of "just another week" at Impact (even if they implement the change they were promising), then people will start to lose interest quickly.
I still think they should go after Smackdown instead of RAW. It'll still accomplish what they're going for- standing up to the "bully"- but less pressure of a live show. Read Smackdown results on Wednesdays, tape your own shows on Thursdays (or a live Friday show) to try to out-do WWE in each segment they display. Then by Friday, they have a show they can be more confident as a competition to Smackdown.
